Looks like winter is here

Climbed Sinus Gulley on Saturday. Approach was fluffy snow to boot top. Someone x-country skied most of the approach trail, I think the up was nicer than the way down. There was some wind slab at tree line and above, but the snow was never more than knee deep.

The first pitch was wet, but took screws up-to 19 cm. The second pitch is rock, as always. The 2nd pitch of Two Step is a nice addition (WI2, similar grade as Sinus). To get there, instead of rapping at the ring bolts, walk 60 m left on the ledge and climb another 60 m of ice to a tree(s) anchor.

Skied Robertson Glacier on Sunday. There is about 30-40 cm of fluffy coverage in most spots. The logging road is packed and travels well. The glacial flats are reasonable on the way up and terrible on the way down. The glacier was in surprisingly good shape and fun skiing.

After years of debate, I learned that AT with dyna-faffs and tele with a free pivot feel pretty much identical, except when slamming into wind rolls with zero visibility where both perform badly in different ways.
